FINAL REFLECTION

Author of Creating Effective Teams, Susan Wheelan, wrote about the development of teams. Bruce Tuckman, mentioned in the novel, modeled the four stages of group development. They are forming, storming, norming, and performing. Throughout this semester, our team endured a few different challenges where the group dynamic was tested. Our group endured all of the stages mentioned in Tuckman’s model. At the end of the semester, our team was thriving and it was reassuring to see the product of our handwork.  We struggled in the first project with the group dynamic. There wasn’t anyone who was taking control of the group or planning meetings.  Once we got our first group assignment feedback, we realized change needed to happen. I was pleased at the change we made when given the constructive criticism. At the end of the semester, we were performing. All cylinders on our team were firing and I was so pleased with our final project.

My leadership domain is relationship building and influencing.  The Clifton Strength strengths worksheet showed my top five strengths to be woo, communication, includer, relator, and discipline. I think my most dominant domain is influencing. I have two themes, communication and woo, in this category.  I feel as though I am always first to speak up, lead, and take charge.  I never want to allow my team to feel unheard.  My domain, influencing, helped lead my team to succeed on the final project because I was in charge of organizing the meet times along with creating the word doc, powerpoint, and outline. I think without this organization and taking charge, my team might have struggled to complete this project within the due date.
